Why that matters more than it should
Reputation is built in rooms. The interviews at the start of every engagement are with your clients, the buyers who chose somebody else, and your recent hires, and those conversations are better in person than on a call. Being able to drive to them is a practical advantage, not a marketing line.
The same is true of the filming. A leadership team that can be in a studio in twenty minutes will record four times a year. One that has to travel to London will record once, promise to do more, and not.
The Northern problem, specifically
There is a version of this business that only exists up here. Excellent companies, genuinely better than their competitors, turning over ten or twenty or forty million, that almost nobody outside their own supply chain has heard of. The work is good. The founder is respected by the people who already know them. And the market they want is being served by louder firms who are not better.
Some of that is cultural. In British business, and disproportionately in the North, restraint reads as credibility and volume reads as need. That instinct is correct, and it is also why so many good businesses stay invisible. The answer is not to become louder. It is to have something to say that nobody else is saying, and to be findable when somebody goes looking.

Do you have to be in Manchester
No. A good proportion of the work is done remotely and the measurement stage needs nothing from you at all. But we will say honestly that engagements where we can get in a room regularly go better, and if you are in the North West you will get more out of us than someone in Exeter will.
